Vedic astrology
Vedic astrology is becoming more and more popular throughout the world. This ancient system of knowledge developed in India and is reputed to be 7,000 years old. Vedic astrology is based on astronomical data and is used to understand how the past affects the individual, the influence of the present, and the chance of events occurring in the future.
As Paramhansa Yogananda wrote in Autobiography of a Yogi:
“A child is born on that day and at that hour when the celestial rays are in mathematical harmony with his individual karma. His horoscope is a challenging portrait, revealing his unalterable past and its probably future results. But the natal chart can be rightly interpreted only by men of intuitive wisdom; these are few.”
The Vedas are the oldest scriptures in India, if not the world. The word ‘Vedas” means “knowledge”. Vedic astrology is also known as Jyotisha or Jyotish in Sanskrit. Jyotish means ‘the eye of nature”.
The tradition of Vedic astrology is based on the principle of “avoiding the danger which has not yet come”, and a good practitioner of Vedic astrology will advise on when to take certain actions and when to avoid risks, identifying the Muhurath, the best time, to start something.
Indian and Vedic astrology is used to predict the future. It can also be used to match birth charts of a couple and to see if they will have a successful marriage.
