Numerology
Numerology is based on numbers: name numerology looks at a person’s name and calculates and predicts their future. Numerology can be used to see how compatible a person is with their partner; numerology is different to Biblical numerology, which is the study of number patterns in the Bible to reveal hidden meanings.
In Western astrology, astrologists believe that each number from 1-9 is governed by a planet in the solar system. The system of numerology used in the West is known as Pythagorean numerology.
Chaldean numerology is the name given to a system of numerology that is based on Kabbalah and Vedic astrology.
Chinese numerology
In China, numbers are considered to be very important. A number can be auspicious or inauspicious, based on the Chinese word to which the number is most similar. Lucky numbers in China are 6, 8 and 9.
In China people may pay large sums of money to obtain auspicious street addresses, car license plate numbers, telepopne numbers or apartment numbers. Numerology and numbers affect one’s life. The number 6 is similar to the word for ‘flowing’ and ‘smooth’. Unusually, and in contrast with Biblical numerology, the number 666 is very auspicious and may be seen on prominent display. The number 8 sounds similar to the word for ‘prosper’ or ‘wealth’: the Summer Olympics, held in Beijing, have the starting date of 8/8/08 and starting time of 8:08 pm. The number 9 sounds similar to the word ‘long lasting’, and is also considered auspicious. Combinations of certain numbers can be very lucky: 1314 sounds similar to ‘forever’ in Mandarin and is widely used by Chinese businesses.
In China, Korea, Vietnam and Japan, the number 4 is considered unlucky as it sounds similar to the word ‘death’. Some apartment buildings will skip all floor numbers containing the digit ’4′. In Chinese culture, the number 14 is especially unlucky.
Indian / Vedic numerology
In India, numerology is similar to what is called the Chaldean system of numerology. It considers that each number has its own vibration and influence. The time and date of birth – the birth number – is very important, as it is the key influence on a person’s life and is unchangeable. The sum of the numbers in a person’s birth date and the sum derived from the letters of a person’s name are used in numerology to generate three unique numbers.
The first is the psychic number, and it reveals how a person looks at and understands themselves. It is calculated by summing the digits of the day of birth together to get a number between 1 and 9.
Next is the destiny number. It indicates how the world looks at and understands the individual. It reveals the karma of a person. It is calculated by summing the digits of the month of birth, then the day of birth, and finally the year of birth.
Lastly, the name number is calculated from the letters that make up a person’s name. The number (always a digit between 1 and 9) is used for numerology love compatibility. Use an online calculator or a Vedic astrologer to help calculate a psychic, destiny and name number.
